Wolf and Mika- courtesy of Perez.
"Mika is a twat [...] and what I meant was Please lets put an end to over marketed, expensive heartless tacky rubbish, autotune, airbrush, should i market myself to look OUTRAGEOUS and kooky or would it be easier if I sold records by playing safe and serene and for the family to save more record sales. Cliff Richard. Enrique Iglesias. mutton dressed as lamb."
I'm not sure i really get Wolf's point here.
If this was a comment regarding sexuality...
that one chooses to acknowledge the queer diversity of their love life -wolf
and one chooses to keep mum- mika
then yes maybe Mika appears to be more marketed to capitalise on an audience with no desire to have sexual topics thrust upon them when all they want to do is listen to pop.
However, I find both guys to be annoyingly marketed to ramp up their quirkiness... they are after all both an act, with fashions and opinions and lyrics designed to get us all talking- and then maybe even buying and listening.
I don't think Mika can really be accused of playing safe and serene, its nothing so clear cut. It's more like Mika's tightrope walking along both sides trying to satisfy mums and kids and retain some sexual quirky allure...both sides of which i feel are too heavily self aware.
I'm also not sure of the other references to other popstars...and so from one incoherent ramble to another... adieu.
